Capacitor manufacturers have been adding capacity since 2017 and, while lead times for many parts could stretch, allocations for most parts, are not likely. However, it is unclear what the MLCC scenario will be and if buying conditions will turn from being a buyer’s market to a seller’s market. One thing is for sure. The MLCC market will be different in 2020 than it was in 2019.

Palladium’s price has exhibited extreme volatility since 2012, with continual rises in price from August 2019 through January 2020. Fukui Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture), a manufacturing subsidiary of Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., commenced clearing of the newly acquired land in June 2018 and proceeded with the construction of the new production building in September 2018. Construction has been finished, and a completion ceremony was held on Tuesday, February 4.
