The current post describes the different measures taken during Scanning Acoustic Microscopy (SAM) inspection to avoid potentially harmful effects associated with water immersion. Internal visual inspection conducted after decapsulation shows the successful prevention of corrosion phenomena in these samples.
The use of new packages on space market has come hand in hand with the introduction of commercial of the shelf (COTS) parts in the business and even more with the New Space needs.
The cuboid-shaped (5.3 x 16 mm), extremely compact SMD fuse is available in five rated currents from 5 A to 20 A and reaches rated voltages of up to 125 V AC&DC with a breaking capacity of up to 1000 A. All these you get with a super slow and precisely defined melting characteristic unique for SMD fuses.
KEMET KONNEKT™ package allows two to four ceramic capacitors to be stacked vertically or horizontally while retaining the integrity of the part. It uses transient liquid phase sintering (TLPS) technology to bond component terminations together. The KONNEKT™ U2J capacitors can be used in both orientations, thus minimizing the component footprint, while maximizing the bulk capacitance of a stacked MLCC with design flexibility in mind.
Microchip takes a proven automotive-qualified device and improves the silicon process to make the component immune to single-event latch-up in heavy ions, thus preventing destruction in the radiation environment of space.
The paper describes the activities and results of an ESA-funded project concerned with the assessment of optical amplifier technologies and products for applications in fiber optic subsystems of future satellite payloads. Onboard applications are briefly introduced, together with associated system-level requirements. Optical amplifier technologies, research achievements and products are reviewed.
The new CERN High energy AcceleRator Mixed Field facility (CHARM) allows to test several single components, as well as more complex devices, at different locations, characterized by particle spectra representative of the high- and low-altitude atmospheric, particle accelerator and ground environments.
A modular architecture specifically designed for integrating technology demonstrators and test applications in a fast-to-orbit cycle allows any interested team to prepare its payload for flight into orbit in less than 1 year.
INTA, the Instituto nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial in collaboration with Alter Technology Spain, exposed in this Symposium themes related to COTS in Space, Proton Radiation Tests and Reliability Assessment Tests giving general conclusions about Radiation and Reliability Assessment.
