Environmental test provides a useful tool for evaluation, qualification, and screening of EEE components for high-reliability applications.
Solving a widespread pain using doEEEt, a database tool to search, select, find the corresponding specifications and the best service for your design
Various types of stresses can be applied to the products in a controlled manner thus allowing to accelerate the appearance of latent defects and consequently to assess the ability of the products to meet project requirements.
An increase in the severity of the environments in which such equipment and electronic components are intended to be used requires much higher quality, and brings much greater concern for safety and reliability, thus prompting a great interest in more severe testing such as Environmental Testing.
In high-reliability operations, this kind of testing provides the inputs that are necessary for validation of EEE parts for use under harsh operating conditions. More demanding international standards, such as MIL, ESCC, IEC or JSS, require environmental testing for validating the parts performance under the conditions of temperature, humidity, pressure, shock, vibration, dust, chemical atmosphere and solar radiation.
To assess the performance of products in severe environments, and so to obtain the required confidence in the ability of these products to operate under such conditions, different kinds of testing are used, among others:
Environmental testing
- Temperature cycling
- Thermal shock
- High temperature burn-in
- Cryogenic testing
