Würth Elektronik presents WE-HEPC, its smallest NiZn-ferrite-based self-shielded power inductor to date. Thanks to a new and completely automated manufacturing process, these power inductors provide consistently high quality and higher saturation current than any previous or known competitive product. In all, there are 15 models available with different attributes (L: 3.3 ~ 100 μH; ISAT: 1.3 ~ 3.3 A) and in package sizes 5030 (4.8 x 4.8 x 1.8 mm) and 6030 (5.9 x 5.9 x 2.85 mm).

Skin losses, also known as skin effect losses, are an important aspect of winding losses in Transformers and Inductors. When the alternating current flows through the wire, it tends to concentrate more on the outer surface due to the skin effect. This results in an underutilization of the inner part of the wire, that leads to energy losses. The current prefers the outer layers of the wire, leaving the inner layers unused.

Temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) is the calculation of a relative change of resistance per degree of temperature change. It is measured in ppm/°C (1 ppm = 0.0001%) and is defined as: TCR = (R2– R1)/ R1 (T2– T1). For high-precision resistors, this specification is typically expressed in parts per million (ppm) per degrees Celsius, with reference to normal room temperature, typically +25°C.
