First, the insertion loss a general filter is defined, and then the impact of the source and load impedance on the insertion loss is investigated. Simulations and measurements focus on the CL and LC filters. In Part II (to appear in the next issue) the performance of the Pi and T filters is evaluated and compared to that of the CL and LC filters.

Consisting of carbon atoms, graphene is a material just one atom thick where the atoms are arranged in a hexagonal lattice. This arrangement of atoms is what results in graphene’s unique property: the electrons in this material move as if they did not have mass. This “massless” behavior of electrons leads to very high electrical conductivity in graphene and, importantly, this property is maintained at room temperature and under ambient conditions. Graphene is therefore potentially very interesting for modern electronics applications.

Each has specific characteristics that make them more or less suitable for high-temperature applications. Resistor degradation at a high temperature can vary from a small resistance change over time to a catastrophic change in resistance, exhibited by either becoming open circuit or, in some cases, a short circuit.
