ABSTRACT
This presentation will highlight the use of COTS for defense, describe some of the specificities and challenges associated with the introduction of COTS in military equipment and conclude on synergies with dual/civil developments, with some recommendations and a roadmap to support European non-dependence on COTS for defense and Space.
Speaker: Patrick Langlois – EDA
Dr. Patrick Langlois is the CapTech Technologies for Components and Modules Project Officer at the Technology and Innovation unit / Research Technology and Innovation Directorate at The European Defence Agency. He has over 20 years in the defense sector and 10 years in the semiconductor sector, with a strong emphasis on Hyper-frequencies, Microwaves, Microelectronics, III-V materials, and components.
Before EDA, Dr. Langlois spent most of his career in the industry, where he held various positions, from senior technical expert in Microelectronic for Radars to business development manager in a Defence company and later in Armament for land forces. Later, he had the opportunity to develop activities in European Eastern countries, the USA, and Latin America.
Dr. Langlois holds a Ph.D. in Electronics & Physics from the University of Rouen (FR).
