ABSTRACT
Due to their advanced and irreplaceable performances, there is a growing will for the adoption of COTS components in satellites and spacecraft development. On the other hand, the COTS adoption is sluggish in JAXA. Satellites and space plane developers in JAXA need easy-to-understand criteria for evaluating the quality of component which adopts COTS.
To promote COTS adoption in JAXA, JAXA needs COTS evaluation methods.
This presentation explains how to establish a COTS evaluation method for the use of COTS in JAXA
Speaker: Hiroaki Kawara – JAXA
Hiroaki Kawara belongs to the Safety & Mission Assurance Department of JAXA.
He is in charge of the audit of JAXA-qualified components manufacturers, especially in active components.
Also, he was responsible for revising the Technology roadmap for Space parts.
Before transferring to his current department, Mr. Kawara worked as a quality assurance engineer in the satellite development department.
