Ingenuity Helicopter parts experience

ABSTRACT

A review of the Mars Helicopter named Ingenuity and the decision to use COTS parts in this technology demonstration. The Helicopter was an unprecedented demonstration to prove that robotic flight was possible in the Mars environment, and it was also an opportunity to test the robustness of commercial EEE parts by utilizing them within the Helicopter. Since the Mars Helicopter would be interfacing with the flagship Mars 2020 Perseverance rover mission, it was crucial that any potential anomalies with the Helicopter would not interfere with the rover’s operations.
