ABSTRACT
Constraints such as size and weight, budget, and delivery time imposed by small satellites, constellations, and in general, New Space force to implement new and innovative ways to procure components while maintaining a proper level of reliability
An integral procurement policy involves tasks ranging from the selection of components to the validation of the selected parts, which might involve different levels of testing. These activities require a paradigm shift from the “classical” approach. Selecting the appropriate components is an exercise where multiple factors must be considered. From the analysis of the manufacturer characteristics to the mechanical aspects of the devices, including the PCB assembly process until their electrical performance.
In this presentation, Alter Technology will present the novel integral COTS procurement approach, gathering the characteristics we are currently developing and its applicability to different Small Satellites applications.
Speaker: José Largaespada – ALTER TECHNOLOGY
Jose Largaespada has a Degree in Physics with a mention in Applied Physics.
Joined Alter Technology in 2016 as EEE Parts Engineer, initially giving procurement support to different customers of the space market around the world. Then, Jose started to join the activities of technical support (PA Support) for projects such as Euclid, Proba-3, and Electra. He now continues developing these activities and technical support to other departments in Alter Technology.
