Fist Martian developments, intensively based on COTS for MINIATURIZATION and LOW POWER:
All OE, magnetic sensor and accelerometer, plus almost all amplifiers, COTS.

Setting up a “formal” strategy for future developments:
Reduced Q&S campaigns for particular or urgent needs
Back to childhood?
ANSER cubesats cluster:
- Camera and spectrometer based on previous COTS developments…
- … But also some COTS will b used w/o intensive Q&S campaigns.
Coordination opportunities … the “Renaissance of COTS”
The opportunity for COTS:
De-mistifying the use of COTS (to some extent!!)
He is Telecomunnication Engineer by the University of Zaragoza, and PhD in Photonic Technology by the Politechnical University of Madrid. He started his career at INTA in 1999, and he was responsible for the payloads of Nanosat-01 and 1B satellites, as well as for the optical communication system of OPTOS and an optical communication experiment on board the FOTON-M3 capsule. He was Proyect Manager of the Spanish contribution to Mars MetNet Lander and PI of 1 sensor on the Schiaparelli Lander. At present he is PI or Co-PI of 3 sensors on board ExoMars 2020 Lander and responsible of another one on the Mars2020 Rover. His phD thesis was awarded as best of Spain in Space Technology.
